Terror is no freedom struggle: Bush: Deccan Herald
New York, Sept 12: President George Bush dismissed any suggestion that terrorism should, in some cases, be considered freedom struggle - as Gen Pervez Musharraf had argued before the UN General Assembly a little earlier.
New York, Sept 12: President George Bush dismissed any suggestion that terrorism should, in some cases, be considered freedom struggle — as Gen Pervez Musharraf had argued before the UN General Assembly a little earlier.
Mr Bush’s comments came in his talks with Indian Prime Minister A B Vajpayee which was a scheduled meeting. Mr Bush made comments on the rationale for terrorism being offered by some. He disputed the distinction being made by some between freedom struggle and terrorism. He said a freedom struggle should be based on “tenets of freedom”. Mr Bush said the administration would continue to use its influence for suppressing crossborder terrorism. He hoped that the Kashmir elections would be held in a peaceful atmosphere.
Mr Vajpayee and President Bush met for about 35 minutes on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and reiterated their shared commitment to further promote bilateral relations.
