Stras, Nov 16: The Council of Europe, a pan-continental cultural and human rights grouping, today condemned the shooting attack which left 12 Israelis dead near the west bank town of Hebron.

Council secretary-general Walter Schwimmer said the "despicable" and "cowardly" attack was aimed at destroying any prospects for a peace settlement in the middle east.
The attack killed nine members of the Israeli security forces and three civilians. Three of the assailants, from the Islamic jihad group, were also reported killed. Bureau Report
