New Delhi, Sept 13: Driven by a strong revival of agricultural growth, sustained growth of services sector and strong rebound of industry and manufacturing, the economy is likely to grow at about 6.5 per cent this fiscal, says Planning Commission member N K Singh.
"I share a more optimistic view... I would place the economic growth to be in the region of about 6.5 per cent for the current fiscal," Singh told reporters on the sidelines of a telecom seminar. Asked about his views on the proposed unified licensing regime in the telecom sector, Singh only said the matter was still at a discussion stage.
"But I certainly see that increase in teledensity would be driven by strong demand factors like increased dependibility of services and increased affordability of costs," he said, adding these would allow much deeper penetration of telecom services and achieve the target for the 10th Five year plan.
