Bangalore, Aug 17: The BJP today said that the no-confidence motion tabled by the Congress would embarrass that party on the issue of boycott of Defence Minister George
Fernandes in Parliament.
"We are making George Fernandes speak in the house and we will make the opposition to hear his speech. As they have been saying they will boycott him, they will be facing a peculiar situation,” BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.
"If they boycott the House when Fernandes speaks, it means they will be going against their own motion. If they don't do that, they will be hearing Fernandes' speech,” he said.
"So, either way, they (the Congress) will be embarrassed,” Naidu said. "The opposition will definitely repent after the motion as to why they have brought this unnecessarily".
The BJP president asserted that the NDA would defeat the motion with "the maximum support". "There is nothing to worry. We have enough support in Parliament".
Asked if the BJP would seek the support of AIADMK on the issue, Naidu said, "We have not made any statement seeking support from any party".
Pointing out that the motion would be tabled in Parliament, he said it's not an issue of election or alliance. "In Parliament, every party has a right to take their own decision. Whoever is willing to support, we are ready to accept".
