New Delhi, June 11: In an apparent attempt to distance herself from Congress and BJP, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha today did not rule out the possibility of a third front emerging at the national level after the coming assembly elections in four major states.
"I think it is premature to write off the possibility of the third front emerging. Elections to the assemblies of four states have to be held,” she told reporters.
"It is only after these assembly elections are completed that the national political parties and major political parties will begin to think and talk about a third front," added Jaya.
Asked about her opposition to Congress president Sonia Gandhi becoming Prime Minister, she shot back saying, "I stand by whatever I have said in this regard." To a question whether her party was getting close to BJP, she said, "It is your perception."
She also brushed aside political significance to Finance Minister Jaswant Singh calling on her at Tamil Nadu House saying it was a business meeting. Bureau Report
