New Delhi, July 09: A meeting of the full National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) was today briefed by its two-member team which visited Vadodara and got hold of the
documents relating to the Best Bakery case in which all the 21 accused were acquitted by a trial court for want of evidence.
The commission has to go through record of over 1000
sheets collected by the NHRC team in Best Bakery case which it
will examine before preparing a report on the matter,
commission sources said.
Making it clear that the commission team did not go to Vadodara to record evidence but rather to collect the information about the records and documents presented before the court in light of the judgement acquitting the accused in the case, the sources said the commission would carefully go through the papers before preparing the report.
Besides interaction with the family members of the victims and witnesses, the NHRC team collected documents relating to the best bakery case from a court and the police in Vadodara yesterday.
