Hyderabad, Dec 31: Ayub Ali Khan alias Gul Mohammed, who served 12 months imprisonment in the US after he was convicted for credit card fraud along with his Hyderabadi accomplice Azmath Javed, has reached home last night. According to family sources today, Ayub landed in New Delhi two days ago from New York on deportation and was "thoroughly and friendly interrogated" by the immigration authorities at Delhi before allowing him to go home. Ayub Ali Khan and Azmath Javed were arrested by FBI in Pennysylvannia immediately after the 9/11 terror attacks and shifted them to New York as "suspected terrorist". However, during the "sustained interrogation" both were cleared of the charge and subsequently booked for credit card fraud.
Ayub and Azmath were put to trial and awarded 12 and 8 months imprisonment respectively which the judge commuted taking their detention period as punishment, the family sources said.
When enquired about the whereabouts of Ayub, his sister said he went along with the lawyer. "He is sick and wanted to go to doctor as it seems that Ayub's health deteriorated during the detention and interrogation," she added.
