Ayodhya, June 08: The excavation work around the makeshift structure was suspended from yesterday as ASI team awaited for the orders for extension for another ten days by the court, sources said.
However, digging work outside the structure continued and eleven articles were found in various trenches including human figurine in terracota, pestle, nails, glazed tiles pieces, the sources added.
Meanwhile, counsel for Central Sunni Waqf Board Jafaryab Jilani said that he had given a written complaint to the judicial observers that water proof ‘shamiana’ were not properly set up, resulting in seepage of rain water in about one dozen trenches in he acquired land and destruction of archaeological evidence are feared.
The sources said that two trenches were filled with rainwater and two others were affected earlier due to sudden rainfall a few days ago.
The authorities have directed to PWD engineers to ensure leakproof 'shamiana' on the trenches in the acquired land so that digging work could be carried on smoothly, the sources said. There were 130 labourers, including 39 Muslims engaged in the digging work.
