CAS: Thackeray urges govt to keep consumer interest in mind
Mumbai, June 13: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray today asked Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ravi Shankar Prasad to keep in mind the interest of poor consumers and cable operators while implementing the conditional access system (CAS).

Speaking to reporters after an over-two hour long meeting with the Sena chief at his suburban residence, Matoshree, Prasad said Thackeray had blessed him and had offered his suggestions on CAS.
The Sena chief had said that the government should aim at protecting the interest of poor consumers and cable operators on the issue.
The party`s executive chairman, Uddhav Thackeray, who was also present at the meeting, said Sena would be in constant touch with the government on the issue and would periodically review the matter.
Union minister Anant Geete and Rajya Sabha member Pritish Nandy were among those who attended the meeting.
Earlier, Prasad met leading cable operators and asked them to cooperate with the government in introducing CAS from July 15 in four metros.
