Allahabad, June 07: Former Uttar Pradesh Congress committee president Arun Kumar Singh Munna today said Congress would play an active role in the ouster of Mayawati regime and formation of an alternative government in the state.
Congress has decided to work together with the Samajwadi
Party (SP), Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Rashtriya Kranti Party
(RKP) for ousting the Mayawati-led BSP-BJP coalition
government and subsequently formation of an alternative
government in the state, he told reporters here.
Stating that the Chief Minister Maywawati was running a minority government ever since its formation in May 2002, Munna, who was removed last week from the post of UPCC chief, alleged the present regime was surviving on the blessings of the state Assembly Speaker Kesri Nathi Tripathi.
"The Speaker deliberately did not call for division of the house members on the confidence motion moved by the Mayawati government in March this year and instead allowed the motion to be passed by voice vote amid pandemonium in the house, the Congress leader said.
Samajwadi Party MP Dharamraj Singh Patel also convened a special session of the state assembly for trial of strength of Mayawati government in the wake of withdrawal of support by (RLD), an erstwhile ally.
