Encephalitis kills 25 in Nepal
Kathmandu, Aug 29: Japanese encephalitis has claimed 25 lives in four districts of Nepal in the last three days, state radio reported today.

Dang district is the most affected area, with ten deaths. The other affected district are Bardia, Banke and Kailali. Hundreds of others have also been affected by the disease in the district, which spreads through culex mosquito.
A vaccination campaign has been launched against the disease in the affected areas and the local administration has distributed mosquito nets as a precautionary measures. In a separate incident, five people have died in landslides following incessant rain in Nepal. Three persons, including two children, of a family were killed in Duduwa village of Ramechhap district, when their house was swept away by landslide, the report said.
The landslide also swept away six houses in the village. In another incident, two people were buried in landslides in Daudha and Bajhak Kani Villages of Doti district. Bureau Report
