New Delhi: Singer Ankit Tiwari has approached the Bombay High Court with the petition to quash the FIR filed against him by a woman in Mumbai in 2014.

The singer's lawyer claimed that the matter has been settled amicably outside court and a compromise has been reached, a leading daily reported.


The woman had filed a police report alleging that the Tiwari had promised to marry her and then went back on his word later. She also claimed that he had molested her and Tiwari had subsequently been arrested by the Versova police from his Andheri East residence on May 8, 2014. He was charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code - Section 376 for rape, Section 493 for cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully, inducing a belief of lawful marriage and Section 506(2) for criminal intimidation.


His brother Ankur Tiwari was also arrested for threatening dire consequnces if she tried to approach the singer again.
