Senior NDA leader Ramvilas Paswan on Monday expressed dissatisfaction over the Bihar government's decision to hold an inquiry into police violence in Muzaffarpur last week, saying that the probe should have been conducted by a sitting judge of the Patna High Court. “Police had gone berserk that day which led to innocent people getting killed. It was all mindless killing and the officials responsible for it should be booked under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code,” he said calling for immediate steps to bring the culprits to justice.
He also demanded setting up of a special court to ensure a speedy trial. Eight people were officially confirmed killed in police firing on an agitated mob which had taken to streets to protest the killing of a five-year-old boy, after being kidnapped, and curfew was subsequently clamped in the town.
Opposition NDA has called for a probe into the incident by a joint house of the state legislature.
