Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday challenged Congress president Sonia Gandhi to fight election against him in Gujarat and ruled out his resignation over the violence in the state which has claimed over 800 lives.
Speaking after inaugurating a water supply scheme at Saher village, about 40 kms from in Godhra, he said that Gandhi has been demanding his resignation and the answer would be given by the people of the state.
“I am ready to contest against her in an assembly or a parliamentary election from anywhere in Gujarat,” the chief minister said referring to the nation-wide campaign by the Congress demanding his removal.
“You take up any newspaper or watch a channel. Everywhere every morning you will only get to see my picture and the demand by the opposition for my resignation. But for their information, I have no plans to step down,” he commented.
