New Delhi, July 09: Torrential rains lashed Delhi today as monsoon displayed itself in full steam bringing relief to people along with problems of water-logging and traffic jams. The national capital received 106 mm of rainfall within five hours since 2 pm reducing day temperature by one degree to 35.2 degree Celsius, which is one degree below normal, the Meteorological Department said.
The department expects more such rains over the national capital and nearby areas over the next couple of days.
As soon as first showers began, water started collecting in many areas, including the diplomatic enclave of Chanakyapuri, the vicinity of Parliament House and busy ITO.
While people were seen enjoying the rain, movement of traffic slowed down considerably due to water-logging causing acute traffic jams across the city.
Many vehicles broke down in the incessant rainfall.
