Chandigarh, Nov 13: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder
Singh today said the chargesheet was ready against SAD
President Parkash Singh Badal and members of his family in a
graft case.
Legal opinion was taken from all quarters, including
Supreme Court lawyers, while finalising the challan against
Badals, he told reporters here.
"It is a celebrity case...We don't want the case to fall
flat. The time was taken to prepare the challan to make the
case fool proof," Singh said.
The Vigilance Bureau had registered a disproportionate
assets case against Badal, his wife Surinder Kaur, son Sukhbir
Singh adal and others in June last. Badal, his wife and their
son were questioned by the VB in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, VB sources said the chargesheet against Badals
was likely to be presented in a court at Ropar next week.
Singh hinted at a major bureaucratic reshuffle in the state next week. "It is likely that major bureaucratic re-shuffle will be effected next Wednesday." The government had recently transferred about 175 police officers.
Defending his government's decision to effect large-scale reshuffle in police, Singh said "it has sent a right signal to the bureaucracy."
On differences between him and his cabinet colleague Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Singh said "whatever differences we have will be sorted out after the Lok Sabha polls."
He gave a clean chit to PWD minister Partap Singh Bajwa against whom an Akali leader had recently levelled charges of grabbing land. "The charges against Bajwa are frivolous and have been levelled by Akalis out of frustration."
