Pakistan on Saturday categorically refuted the allegation made by the interior minister of the interim government of Afghanistan Younus Qanooni that Pakistan has been interfering in Afghanistan's internal affairs. Pakistan foreign office spokesman Aziz Ahmed Khan was commenting on Qanooni's remarks, which he had made in New Delhi on Friday, at a joint press briefing in Islamabad, Saturday evening.
Aziz Khan said,''We have not seen the extracts of Qanooni's remarks. But we categorically reject the false allegation.'' He said Pakistan had helped the people of Afghanistan in their hour of trial for more than two decades when Russians had occupied their land and even during the current crisis Pakistan had provided support to the Afghan refugees.
Pakistan had taken care of nearly three million Afghan refugees for more than 22 years, added Aziz Khan. Besides many of the Afghan leaders came and stayed in Pakistan with their families. Aziz Khan said Pakistan gave its wholehearted support to finalise the Bonn agreement. Pakistan hoped that there would be a stable government in Afghanistan, which would be friendly to all its neighbours.
