Sonepat, Nov 08: The newly-elected president of the Haryana unit of the BJP, Ganeshi Lal, has denied his alleged involvement in the smuggling of liquor in the state. Talking to the mediapersons here yesterday, Lal described the allegations levelled against him as baseless and mischievous and said that these were aimed at lowering his image.

He claimed that none of the commissions appointed by the present government to probe into liquor smuggling had called him for recording the statement and he had never been indicted in the report of the commission. The BJP leader, who took over from Rattan Lal Kataria to become the new state BJP chief, while referring to the support of his party to the Chautala government, maintained that the INLD was giving its support to the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre from outside and the BJP in Haryana was also giving its support to it from outside.

"However, the BJP will oppose the anti-people, anti-farmer and anti-trader policies of the Chautala government," he said. Bureau Report
