Ajmer, June 27: With the onset of monsoon in Rajasthan, running of water trains to scarcity hit areas would stop at the end of this month, railway sources said here today. The trains, being run free of charge, would be stopped on June 30 as per the agreement between railways and the state government, sources said. The trains carry Bisalpur dam water from Nasirabad railway station to places in Jaipur, Bhilawra and Udaipur districts. About 320 lakh litres of drinking water has been supplied to scarcity hit areas since October last year by these trains. However, there has been a demand by the population in these areas for continuation of water trains till July end after sufficient water is collected in local sources.
