Mumbai, Nov 29: Nearly 100 agitating employees of the Unit Trust of India prevented senior officials, including UTI adminstrator M Damodaran, from leaving the head quarters for six hours protesting against a circular but ended their stir after a new circular was issued giving relief to the class-III and class-IV employees. The earlier circular had stated that in the post voluntary separation scheme (which was open from September 08 till October 03, 2003) scenario if the assets under management does not substantially increase to sustain the manpower then the company will not be able to allot duties to all employees.
The employees who are not allotted duties may not be required to attend office. However, the monthly salaries will be remitted to them, the circular had said.
This prompted demonstration from employees at about 6.30 Pm. This evening as senior officials, including UTI adminstrator M Damodaran, were prevented from leaving the head quarters.
The employees decided to end their agitation after the management issued a circular stating that class-III and class-IV employees would be excluded from the earlier communication issued to them earlier, UTI officials said here.
