"The continuation of Patrick is very good news for Barca," Barcelona director general Javier Perez Farguell said.
Kluivert, reportedly the Catalan club's best-paid player with an estimated salary of 6 million (us$6.9 million), had been informed that Barcelona would enforce the clause in his contract which allows it to withhold a bonus of 4.6 million euros (us$5.3 million).

As a consequence, the terms of the contract state that Kluivert's buy-out clause would be slashed to 1 million pounds (US$1.67 million), easing the way for him
to leave.
Kluivert, who has been negotiating with the club for weeks, joined Barcelona in 1998 after a year with AC Milan. He also played for Ajax, scoring the winning goal in the Dutch team's champions league final triumph over Milan in 1995.
