New Delhi, Sep 01: The impish grin on Zulfikar Syed's face as he narrates the experience of his first modelling assignment is rather hard to miss. His voice seldom seems to leave the `appropriate' tone and his eyes rarely drift away from focus. But for an actor who has just about two assignments in hand, Zulfikar is all set to make his dream debut this September.
The Bangalore-based model-turned-actor who first made news as Mr. Gladrags in 1997 and was seen in successful commercials like Tata Indica, Ponds and Lakme, will be seen in Warner Bros.' first Hindi film "Chupke Se" up for release in mid-September. Used to being bombarded with questions on the acceptance of models in Bollywood, the actor is unruffled as he points out that "Things have changed. No one says models cannot act anymore. Models have been doing well and have proved that they can act. I did not go out looking for work. I signed this film because it came my way and has a brilliant script," he says. As for what makes models tick, Zulfi points out that "the directors get a great package of good looks, screen presence and talent." The film has Zulfi make his debut opposite newcomer Masumi. Being part of the first Warner Bros. Hindi film, he says, is a great feeling. "It feels great and also reassures you at the same time. They would have obviously considered something in the film to choose it as their first venture," quips Zulfi.

Playing the role of a young software tycoon who decides to get out of his virtual life in search of `fun', the actor claims he had spent a lot of time researching for his character in the film. "It is a young film, with a lot of comedy that is not forced. I am happy with the way the film has shaped up," he says.
He may be busy with acting now, but the actor is clearly not giving up modelling as yet. "Modelling has a short life as compared to acting, that is probably one of the important reasons for models shifting to cinema. I would like to continue doing modelling as I still have time for it. Also for a person living alone in Mumbai, the extra income does help," says the actor.
