Hizbul militant killed in encounter
Srinagar, July 23: A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed and a student injured in separate incidents in frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir, official sources said today.
Srinagar, July 23: A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed and a student injured in separate incidents in frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir, official sources said today.
The Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Israr Ahmad Khan was
killed in a gunfight with troops of 47 Rashtriya Rifles at
Pantha top in Kandi area last night, the sources said.
The sources said the encounter took place when the troops raided a suspected militant hideout and asked the hiding militant to surrender. Instead he opened fire and in the ensuing encounter got killed.
An AK assault rifle and ammunition were recovered from the killed militant, the sources said.
Unidentified militants shot at and critically injured a student Abdul Majid Dar inside his house at Sogam, the sources said, adding Dar was shifted to hospital.
The sources said the encounter took place when the troops raided a suspected militant hideout and asked the hiding militant to surrender. Instead he opened fire and in the ensuing encounter got killed.
