Kishanganj, Oct 07: In a virtual warm-up for next year's Lok Sabha polls, leaders of National Democratic Alliance today attacked ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar accusing it of keeping the state backward and sought to compare its performance with that of the Centre. Addressing a rally here, railway minister Nitish Kumar said, "this is the time to ask the Laloo-Rabri Devi regime to furnish its progress report and take into account the works accomplished by the NDA".
Lauding the efforts of local MP and textiles minister Shahnawaz Hussain, he said the RJD leaders should refrain from taking credit for the works done by Hussain.
In Kishanganj, where the BJP recorded its maiden victory in 1999 after defeating RJD leader and former Union Minister of State for Home Taslimuddin, Hussain has done an "examplary" work, Kumar said.
A 2000 km stretch has been covered under the Prime Minister's rural road network project and 13,300 mw of electricity was being added in the state, he said.
"Interestingly, the state government said that Central agencies should take up the highway project. If the Central government should do all these, why should the state government stay in power? I urge you to throw out the 13 years of misrule in the state," Kumar said.
Blowing an election whistle, he announced a slew of measures for the state.
