Srinagar,Sept 13: All the 3397 polling booths in the Kashmir valley are either hyper-sensitive or sensitive and none of them fall in the normal category.
There is not a single polling booth in Kashmir valley which is normal. They either fall in the category of hyper-sensitive or sensitive, IG police K Rajender Kumar said in an interview. While 1979 polling stations, out of total 3397, are hyper-sensitive, remaining 1418 polling stations fall in the category of senstive, he said. Giving the details of the security measures taken at these polling stations, Kumar said while nearly three sections of security personnel were deployed at hyper-sensitive polling stations, for sensitive polling stations, two sections were pressed into service.
This deployment was in addition to the state police. Besides, the 60,000-strong state police who were mainly looking after the election process except the skelton staff at police stations and important establishments in the state, the state has also received hundreds of companies of para-military forces to check any untoward incident during the elections in the valley, Kumar said.
