Six ultras, three security men among 12 killed in J-K
Srinagar, Nov 05: Six militants and three security personnel were among 12 persons killed in militancy-related violence in Jammu and Kashmir since last night, an official spokesman said here today.
Militants ambushed an army search party in Hari Budha
forest area of Poonch last night triggering an exchange of
fire with troops in which one security personnel was killed
and three others were seriously injured. One of the injured
later succumbed in hospital, the spokesman said.
Another gunbattle broke out at Bathanwali Sangla area of
Surankote in the district in which one militant and one
security personnel were killed and two jawans injured, he
said.
Militants stormed a house at Painch in Poonch district
and opened indiscriminate fire seriously injuring the two
inmates, one of whom later succumbed to injuries in hospital.
In yet another encounter at Upper Salani in Mendhar area,
one militant was killed from whom an AK rifle, two magazine
and two hand grenades were recovered, the spokesman said.
A range officer in wild life department and supporter of
opposition national conference, was shot in the temple with a
silencer-fitted pistol by militants at Maulana Azad Road here
around 1300 hours today, the spokesman said.
He was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought
dead.
In central Kashmir's Budgam district, ultras shot dead a
former colleague at village Chewdara. The man was earlier
associated with Hizbul Mujahideen.
