New Delhi, July 31: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today said in the Lok Sabha that Maharashtra government has been advised to "review" and "streamline" security arrangements in Mumbai to prevent recurrence of bomb blasts which have rocked the metropolis since Monday. "The (Home) Ministry has advised the government of Maharashtra to review and streamline the security and intelligence apparatus in the city so as to pre-empt recurrence of such incidents in the future," he said.
Advani was making a statement in the house after it reassembled following a 15-minute adjournment during the Zero Hour when the Opposition and the BJP-Shiv Sena combine clashed over comments made by Minister of State for Power Jayawantiben Mehta on explosion in Mumbai in the wee hours of today. She had attacked the Congress-NCP regime in Maharashtra.
Quoting reports received from the state government about the bomb explosion today and that in Ghatkopar on Monday, the Deputy Prime Minister said seven persons were killed and 25 others injured as a result of "very high intensity" blast in a chawl in Yadav Nagar area of Jogeshwari, west Mumbai, at 0300 hours today.
