Raipur, July 12: Fifteen BJP MLAs, including leader of opposition in Chhattisgarh assembly Nand Kumar Sai, were arrested today when they tried to proceed towards Chief Minister Ajit Jogi's official residence, demanding the sitting of assembly's monsoon session for 25 days instead of three. “The slogan shouting MLAs were arrested when they tried to proceed towards Jogi's residence after staging dharna for about one-and-a-half hours near his house at civil lines,” police said, adding later the MLAs, who were arrested under Section 151 of IPC, were released on personal bonds. Earlier, the BJP legislators were pressing for the holding of the house sitting for 25 days as the house would convene for monsoon session on July 28.

Atleast 25 days sittings should be held to discuss various issues relating to the people and the state, Sai told reporters. “After the political murder of NCP treasurer Ram Avatar Jaggi, BJP demanded a CBI inquiry into it. But Jogi rejected it, saying that the killers will be arrested soon".

As Jogi fears that the opposition would raise this issue along with other issues, which might put his government in a fix and therefore, the chief minister has decided to hold a three-day monsoon session,” Sai alleged.
