Mr. Reliable of Indian golf at top of money list
New Delhi, Oct 02: With hardly quarter season completed, the Hero Honda Golf Tour has already earned in excess Rs one lakh for its top 15 golfers.
Arjun Singh, with just three tournaments under his belt, leads the pack with earnings of just a shade under Rs five lakh on the Professional Golfers Association of India (PGAI) money list, released by the governing body for professional golf in India recently.
The 'Mr Reliable' of Indian golf, Arjun Singh can credit his achievement to a stupendous showing at the recently concluded southern swing of the tour.
Arjun's current earnings tally stands at Rs 4,81,500 in three starts with all-top ten finishes including wins at the Rs 10 lakh TNGF-Kone Open, Chennai and the Rs 10 lakh Hero Honda Open, Bangalore.
Thrice money list winner Mhow's Mukesh Kumar is currently placed second with Rs 3,24,500 in six events with a win at the Rs seven lakh Hyundai Open, Chennai under his belt.
Uttam Singh Mundy of Kolkata is third with Rs 3,15,442. Mundy, like Mukesh, has one win in six starts with his moment of glory coming at the Rs 10-lakh Hindu Open at Chennai.
The fourth position is occupied by Asian PGA tour star Jyoti Randhawa, who has a 100 per cent record, winning the only tournament he played this year.
Jyoti, who created history by wining the Suntory Open on the Japanese PGA Tour in September, recorded a win at the season opening Kashmir Open 2003. This fetched him Rs 2,91,600.
