Leh, Nov 16: The mortal remains of Buddhist spiritual leader K G Bakula will be consigned to flames with full state honour near Spituk Gompa at Leh today
Bakula died in New Delhi on November 04 after a brief illness at the age of 86.
The date of November 16 was calculated as being an auspicious day for the cremation by Buddhist astrologers who held meetings under the religious leader Sras Rinpochhey.
The cremation will be held with full state honour and is expected to be attended by senior leaders of the centre as well as of the state as well as thousands of devotees, senior officials said.
Religious prayers were being held at Spituk Gompa and all other gompas of Ladakh, attended by thousands of lamas. A large number of people are coming to Spituk Gompa to pay their last homage to Bakula, they said. Bureau Report
