England, June18: Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp will hold talks with Teddy Sheringham this week about a possible move to Fratton Park.
England, June18: Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp will hold talks with Teddy Sheringham this week about a possible move to Fratton Park.
The former England striker is available on a free transfer after being released by Spurs.
Redknapp is a big fan of the 37-year-old and is hopeful he can persuade him to be a part of Pompey's plans as they embark on their debut season in the Premiership.
"I'm still very interested in Teddy," Redknapp told this website.
"I'm going to speak to him this week, have a chat with him about football in general and see what his plans are."
Sheringham has also been linked with Charlton and Wolves and is weighing up his options while on holiday.
Redknapp made Liverpool's Patrick Berger his first signing of the summer, but missed out on Ipswich's Matt Holland who opted for a move to Charlton.
The Portsmouth boss confirmed he is hoping to bring in Wimbledon teenager Nigel Reo-Coker, but said reports that they had agreed a fee were premature. We're talking to the people there, trying to do a deal but we're still in the early stages," he added. "He's a young player and one for the future that's for sure.
"I'm looking to bring in experience but you need young players as well." Redknapp denied reports Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris had made extravagant demands to join Pompey. "It's not even started yet, I've not even spoken to the kid," he said.
"They keep saying he's asking for silly wages but that's rubbish. He's not asking for silly wages - I've not even had the chance to speak to him."
