Dhaka, June 21: Bangladesh's national flag carrier Biman is planning to shut down more than half a dozen offices across the globe, including the one in Kolkata, in order to reduce losses, a report here said. A committee set up by the ministry of civil aviation and tourism has suggested appointment of General Sales Agent (GSA) instead of maintaining offices to overcome losses, state minister for civil aviation Mir Nasiruddin was quoted as saying by private TV channel. Accordingly, the Kuala Lumpur office of Biman has already been closed and eight others including Kolkata, Karachi, London, New York and Singapore will soon follow GSA system, the report said. A final decision on the matter will be taken soon.

Biman, with a fleet of about a dozen aircraft, operates to more than two dozen destinations in three continents. Bureau Report
