Dehra Dun, Nov 23: The Central Bureau of Investigation is yet to arrive at any conclusion in the unwed mother scandal in which former Uttaranchal Revenue Minister Harak Singh Rawat is a rape accused, official sources said today. After months of investigations in the case following which the minister had to resign, the investigating agency interrogated nearly two dozen people, including Rawat and the victim, his maid-servant, so far.

In its bid to unearth the truth, a CBI team interrogated the victim who hails from Assam again to confirm reports whether she had any links with Bodo militants, the sources said. The woman was arrested in Bareilly city of Uttar Pradesh last year during the visit of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on suspicion that she was having alleged links with Bodo militants. She was, however, released later.

The move to interrogate her on these lines comes in the wake of DNA reports from a Hyderabad forensic laboratory that the child of the woman was not fathered by Rawat, as being alleged by her.

CBI sleuths, who raided some places in Dehra Dun during the past two days, also questioned Deepti, wife of Rawat. But no details of the interrogations were available, the sources said. When asked as to when the CBI would give its final report in the case, the sources said it was too early to comment as the investigating agency would make the case fool-proof before arriving at any conclusion.
