New Delhi, May 07: India has not received any "positive response" from Pakistan so far on the list of 20 criminals and terrorists wanted by New Delhi in connection with various crimes, the Rajya Sabha was informed today. "On the list of 20 criminals sent to Pakistan, we have not yet got any positive response," Minister of State for Home I D Swami said responding to supplementaries during Question Hour.
He said while deportation of criminals and terrorists has taken place from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), "India has not been able to get any criminal deported or extradited from Pakistan so far".
Swami said Red Corner notices have been sent by CBI (Interpol wing) against 234 wanted criminals and seven countries including the US, Germany, Portugal, UAE, UK and France responded in 2002 and 2003. Extradition requests for 16 criminals and terrorists were under various stages of processing.
Gujarat: No survey or census of any particular community has been ordered by Gujarat government in the state, Swami said responding to a volley of supplementaries to a question relating to survey of Christians in Gujarat.
Naga talks: Peace talks between the Centre and the NSCN(I-M) to find an amicable solution to the Naga issue have remained inconclusive, Swami said in reply to a question.
Indo-Bangla border: Altogether 255 kms of fence has been completed under the second phase of fencing work along Indo- Bangladesh border, Swami said adding more agencies would be engaged to expedite fencing work.
