Hyderabad, June 06: The situation in Mallepally, Nampally and adjoining areas of the city, the scene of clashes between two groups that claimed one life yesterday, was tense but peaceful today, police said. However, shops in the areas remained closed in protest against killing of one Mohammad Ghouse (55), police said adding sporadic incidents of stone pelting were reported late last night.
The clashing groups had smashed the windowpanes of an RTC bus and a scooter was set afire late last night in Nampally area, they said adding the situation was now under control. Rapid action force and A P Special Police were deployed in the affected areas and also in the sensitive areas of the city in view of Friday prayers today.
The DGP P Ramulu, the city police commissioner M V Krishna Rao accompanied by additional commissioner A K Khan visited the affected areas. Earlier, police fired in the air to quell the mob and prohibitory order banning assembly of persons has been clamped in Habeebnagar police station limits to prevent further trouble, additional commissioner of police, A K Khan said
The two groups clashed over a petty issue on Wednesday night leading to trouble yesterday. One person died in heavy stone pelting while another was stabbed and two others injured in stone-throwing, police said. Bureau Report
