Indore, Nov 06: Despite heavy rains in the region, the city is facing power and water crisis creating problems for both BJP and Congress campaigners. "People are complaining about the erratic water and power supply coupled with the low voltage problem wherever the candidates are going for electioneering in their constituencies," Indore Mayor and BJP candidate from Indore-2 constituency, Kailash Vijaywargiya admitted.

Due to low voltage problem Indore Municipal Corporation was unable to fill the water in its various overhead tanks in the city resulting in irregular water supply, Vijaywargiya, who is also the sitting MLA from the constituency said.

His opponent, Khadi Gramodyog Board vice chairman and Congress candidate Ajay Rathore admitted that they were getting regular complaints from the people in this regard.
Rathore said that he discussed the matter with the state chief minister Digvijay Singh yesterday and added steps are being taken to rectify the problem, specially of low voltage.

A senior officer of the MPEB said that the problem of low voltage is a "technical problem" as the generation is confined to the eastern side of the state and the supply gets affected due to the "drop" in current because of a long distance.

To address this problem, capacitors were installed at various points midway, but they too can't be installed beyond a certain numbers. Secondly, demand has also increased in various areas of the region as large number of people have been given temporary connections.

He also blamed the recent government decision to re-connect those defaulters whose power connections were snapped by the MPEB for non-payment during the crisis.
