A film festival showcasing the best of Asian films will grace the capital from August 26 to September 2, offering the denizens a cultural treat. Over 50 films from Asian nations including China, Iran and Pakistan, will be shown during the week-long third film festival of Asian cinema, said Aruna Vasudev, editor of Asian film quarterly `Cinemaya` and president Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC).
The highlight of the festival is the Pakistani film `Mujhe Chand Chahiyey` a debut by well known Pakistani actor- turned director, Shaan. Extending the active support of Delhi government to the festival, cultural secretary Niti Bali said, "We have formulated a plan scheme which comprises the film festival among other cultural events. The aim is to forge closer cultural links between India and other Asian nations and cinema is the best means to forge such ties."
Films in the following sections will be screened at the festival. Asian panorama which features 12 films from nine countries include `Kittonkhola` by Abu Sayeed of Bangladesh, `Song of Tibet` by Xei Fei of china and `Kali Salwar` by Fareeda Mehta.
