Berlin, May 07: Top-seeded Kim Clijsters pulled out of her third-round match with a recurring wrist injury, jeopardising her chances of playing the French Open later this month. She was coming off a six-week layoff because of the injury.
"I hope I can play the French, I don't know. It's a 50-50 chance," said Clijsters, the No. 2 in the world.
Clijsters said her wrist flared up again after beating Marta Marrero during a second-round match Wednesday in which she wore a brace around the injury.
She pulled out just hours before her third-round match against Karolina Sprem.
"My hand didn't respond well to yesterday's match - it's going to need more rest," she said at a hastily scheduled press conference.

Several other seeded players advanced yesterday, including No. 4 Anastasia Myskina, No. 6 Jennifer Capriati and No. 10 Svetlana Kuznetsova, who ousted No. 7 Elena Dementieva 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-4.
