New Delhi, Sept 22: Federation of Indian Export Organisations today welcomed government decision to exempt wooden handicrafts exports from income tax for 6 years from the next fiscal and asked the Centre to extend the relief to all handicraft sectors. "This relief will boost the export of wooden handicrafts and will encourage the exporters to further promote this sector having vast export potential and earn valuable foreign exchange besides generating employment in the small and cottage sectors," a FIEO release said here, quoting vice president Subhash Mittal.
He said extending the relief to all handicraft sectors would provide a level playing field to exporters of brass artware, silk, textiles, handmade carpets and stone articles.
