Hong Kong, Sept 20: Six of nine residents at a retirement home suffering from fever and respiratory infections have tested negative for SARS, while two more people from the same facility have been hospitalised with similar symptoms, health officials said today.
Test results showed six of the patients did not have
severe acute respiratory syndrome, health department
spokeswoman Eva Wong said. The three other patients are still
waiting for their results, Wong said.
All are believed to have a strain of the flu, she added.
Meanwhile, two more residents from the same home have been admitted to Tseung Kwan o hospital after developing similar symptoms, the hospital said in a statement late last night. They too will be tested for SARS, Wong said.
All 11 patients were in stable condition last night, the hospital statement said.
