Bangalore, Nov 06: A "larger conspiracy" behind the placing of crude bombs in the legislators' home here allegedly by a police sub-inspector could not be ruled out, Police Commissioner S Mariswamy said today. He said police were investigating the case from all angles, including suspected links with any outfit of arrested sub-inspector Girish Loknath Mattennavar, who allegedly planted the bombs, describing his act as "a fight against corrupt politicians".
"I don't rule it out," he said, when asked if there could be a larger conspiracy behind the recovery of three crude bombs from the legislators home, just a stone's throw away from Vidhan Soudha, over the week-end.
He said the police were preparing a blueprint to provide security to the legislators home and the high court, apart from Vidhan Soudha.
Mattennavar, a post-graduate in genetics who passed the police service examinations with distinction, is in police custody now for eight days.
His parents have sought pardon for him but Home Minister Mallikarjun Kharge has ruled it out, saying the case was "not as simple as it appears" and that the law would take its own course. Bureau Report
