Madurai (TN), Sept 12: Janata Party President Dr
Subramanian Swamy today said Prime Minister A B Vajpayee
should have made it clear to his Israeli counterpart Ariel
Sharon that India did not share his perception of the Islamic
Republic of Iran.
Swamy, in a statement here, said he felt that the Prime
Minister should have told Sharon, during his recent visit to
the country, that "Israel's enemy need not be India's enemy as
well."
"It is true that India is committed to the integrity of
Israel. Israel also has been consistently helpful to India
Nevertheless, India's good relations with Iran has strategic
interest. Further, Iran's civilization is a sister culture of
India," he said.
India should use its relations with Iran to moderate the
latter's attitude towards Israel, he added.
