Mark Wahlberg's first stint in the limelight began as Marky Mark, the white rapper long before Eminem came along to popularise the concept of a white rapper. There's no denying that his initial shot at stardom had a lot to do with the fact that elder brother Donnie Wahlberg was a part of America's first boy band, New Kids On The Block.
Before he could rap his way into the big league of the music industry, Calvin Klein happened. Suddenly as Calvin Klein's new poster boy, Wahlberg's near naked body was adorning billboards, posters and magazines.
In his third shot at stardom, he tried his hand at acting. His first few attempts failed to create any ripples even though "Fear" gave a glimpse of the potential lurking beneath the brawn. It was only in Paul Anderson's acclaimed "Boogie Nights" which explored the porn industry of the seventies that finally got him noticed.
