Gurgaon, July 13: Punjab vigilance sleuths today raided a resort here owned by former chief minister Prakash Singh Badal`s son in connection with corruption cases filed against the Akali Dal chief and others, including his family members.
About 20 vigilance sleuths accompanied by engineers of public works department and building and roads searched the Orbit Resort of Sukhbir Singh Badal this afternoon, vigilance sources said.
Earlier, as the vigilance team reached the resort to conduct raid, it was not allowed entry into the premises by Sukhbir Badal`s counsel who asked them to produce a warrant which allows them to take pictures and video films, Akali Dal spokesman said.
He said that the counsel asked the officials to obtain a warrant for the purpose before taking pictures and video clippings like they had done in the case of Chandigarh residence of Sukhbir.
After hours of stalemate they were allowed to enter the premises only to carry out searches as per the warrant obtained from a Kharar court, he said.
The guard at the resort checked the identity cards of the officials and searched them before allowing them entry into the premises, vigilance sources said.
Meanwhile, the Akali Dal chief said that he would quit politics if the charge against him that he had land or investment outside the country was proved.
"I will quit politics forever and sign on a blank paper that whatever chief minister Amarinder Singh is saying is right if it is proved that we have a rupee or even an inch of land outside the country," he told a private TV channel.
The court had last month issued search warrants for 16 properties owned by Badal and his family and later, on a vigilance plea, granted it permission to take pictures and video film the house of Sukhbir in Chandigarh.
The vigilance bureau has since searched a number of places owned by Badal and his family including his ancestral house in Faridkot district.
The raiding party is likely to take measurements of the resort like it did at other Badal premises, vigilance sources said.
A large number of Akali workers were present outside the restore.
