Lakme India Fashion Week begins
Mumbai, July 18: Around 48 lissome models would walk down the ramp showcasing some of the most stylised trends in the fashion industry, as Lakme India Fashion Week kickstarts at the NCPA in south-Mumbai today.
Mumbai, July 18: Around 48 lissome models would walk down the ramp showcasing some of the most stylised trends in the fashion industry, as Lakme India Fashion Week kickstarts at the NCPA in south-Mumbai today.
The fashion week would see 58 leading fashion designers, including Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Arora, Malini Ramani, Rohit Bal and Sabyasaachi, showcasing their signature designer wear during the 35 shows being organised during the week.
The event, organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), would see a pot pourri of styles, including military designer wear by Aki Narula, vintage wear by Manish Arora, oriental apparel by Aparna Chandra and the all-time favourite colour--white by Sabyasaachi.
Over 350 international and domestic buyers were expected to visit the fashion event, that would have a combination of diffusion and pret line of collection, according to FDCI executive director Vijay Kaul.
Among those expected this year are Maria Luisa and Zingara from France and Princess Beatrice of Austria. International media including ‘Vogue’ and ‘Conde Nast’ would also be present to cover the glamorous event.
"Last time the sales turnover were around Rs 15-20 crore, this time we expect the sales to go up by 25-30 per cent,” says an optimistic Kaul.
"The focus this time will be on the pret line since the future of the fashion industry lies in this. Events like these we hope, would help rope in corporates in promoting and retailing in the fashion industry," he said.
