New Delhi, Jan 03: Polaris chief Arun Jain today met external affairs minister Yashwant Sinha and thanked him for his intervention to secure his release in Jakarta where he was detained following a commercial dispute with Bank Artha Graha. "During the meeting Sinha said that associations like CII and Nasscom should give their suggestions on what external affairs ministry can do to help businesses avoid a repeat of the situation," Jain told a news agency here.

He said that businesses, on their part, could also play a positive role and involve embassies when they bag a contract outside India. Jain said he also spoke to communications and it minister Pramod Mahajan on the phone today, as a meeting with him could not materialise due to his engagements.

Jain was accompanied by two other Polaris officials -- G N Mathur, who is a director on board of the company and Aruna Kashinath, senior vice president of the company. Bureau Report
