Mumbai, July 12: The Sports Journalists Association of Mumbai (SJAM) has announced a cash prize of Rs 20,001 to India's first ever woman grand slam winner Sania Mirza.
Sixteen-year-old Sania, who won the Wimbledon Girls Doubles title along with Alisa Kleybanova of Russia recently, would be given Rs 20,001 for her "fine performance", SJAM said.

SJAM made the announcement at a function Thursday held to felicitate the West Zone cricket team which won the J K Bose trophy recently.
SJAM has also given away cash prizes to the best hockey players in the Bombay Gold Cup Tournament since 2001, including Amandeep Singh (2001), Baljeet Singh Dhillon (2002) and Prabhjot Singh (2003).
Meanwhile, SJAM held a debate during the function on statesmen's sports scribe Mario Rodrigues' book "Batting For The Empire - The Political Biography of Ranjitsinghji".



Veteran scribes S K Sham, Raju Bharathan, cricket historian Vasanth Raiji, advisor to government of Maharashtra P K Ravindranth and sports editor of Times of India Ayaz Memon were among those who addressed the debate held at the Cricket Club of India.
