New Delhi, Oct 08: A Delhi court today took cognizance of the chargesheet filed against Chattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi for allegedly tarnishing the image of Intelligence Bureau and Central government and summoned him on November 18. "Considering the entire documents and material placed on record before me, I take cognizance of the chargesheet filed against Ajit Jogi for the offences under Section 471 read with 465 and 469 of IPC," metropolitan magistrate Shahabuddin said in his order.
The summons have to be served through the investigating officer in the case, the court said.
Meanwhile, the bandh call given by the Youth Congress and NSUI to protest the filing of chargesheet against Jogi evoked mixed response.
The Youth Congress activists burnt the effigy of CBI, accusing the agency of chargesheeting the Chief Minister for political reasons.
Due to rains since yesterday there were few Congressmen on the streets and a majority of shops were closed.
However, there was usual vehicular traffic on the street and buses were seen plying amidst heavy police deployment in sensitive places of the city.
