New Delhi, Oct 29: Delhi Police, which investigated the Parliament attack case, today refused to spell out whether it would go in for appeal against the Delhi High Court order acquitting two of the four accused, saying the judgement was yet to be studied. "We are yet to study the judgement. After that we will decide whether to approach supreme court or not," Police Commissioner R S Gupta told reporters hours after the court verdict which acquitted suspended Delhi University lecturers A R Geelani and Afshan Guru, wife of Showkat Guru whose death sentence along with that of Mohd Afzal was upheld.
"An appropriate action will be taken after the verdict is studied," he added.
Asked whether the acquittal meant the investigation was not conducted properly, the commissioner said the convictions had taken place on the basis of a "very good investigation".
"This is the first Pota case in which convictions have taken place," he said adding it also vindicates existence of the anti-terrorist law.
Delhi Police's special cell had cracked the case within two days arresting Geelani and Afshan on the basis of mobile phone conversation. Showkat and Afzal were nabbed two days later in Kashmir.
