Srinagar, Mar 24: Congress today said the massacre of 24 Kashmiri Pandits in Pulwama will not deter the state government from its plan to resettle migrants in their homeland. Criticising the massacre, state unit chief Ghulam Nabi Azad said the PDP-led government will leave no stone unturned in this effort as "Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits."
While admitting that the massacre had dealt a setback to the government's endeavour to resettle Kashmiri Pandits in the valley, azad said the government will not abandon the plan and will do whatever necessary to restore peace. He said the attack took place because Mufti Mohammad Sayeed government had started sincere efforts to bring the Kashmiri Pandits back. "Militants do not like this," he added.
Bringing back Kashmiri Pandits was a part of the common minimum programme chalked out by the coalition government and the process was already set in motion and Centre was informed, he said. Asked whether the incident reflected security lapse, Azad, before leaving for the scene of the carnage, said he will comment after taking stock of situation.
He said more security is needed for the minority community in the state to ensure their safety.
In reply to a question, Azad said the government will take a decision about instituting an inquiry into the incident after assessing the situation.
